Phenomenal 👍👍👍
One of the most interesting engineering videos I have ever seen so Thanks.
what piece of engineering and hard work Amazing work
I like the program it's good cmc.
One of my best documentaries!
120 million dollars sounds mighty cheap?
They should have been there before titanic set sailed
Is the ice constantly hitting the front screw?
hey! someone tell me how thick is that outer wall of the ship..!? please
any one else here for science class lol
2021 🙂
Does ANYONE think that breaking something that our planet MAKES for a reason,is a good idea???????? NOT TO SMART.
It's too bad they viewed the San Fransisco Bay as a problem and not one of the most valuable resources on earth.
Lmao it's not that cool I love 25 mins away and make sure to stay clear of the city
It's shameful California is a big , fat dump & people & businesses are moving out in droves.
The Mackinac bridge spans over 5 miles & in the notoriously rough Great Lakes.
And now it one of the most famous places to commit suicide.
With all of the concern about the polar ice melting. Why do they continue to create vessels that contribute to the problem? Breaking the ice will cause it to melt at a more rapid rate. A solid unbroken mass of ice will stay frozen longer than it would, if it were broken into smaller peices. Stop breaking the ice... Where are the activists on this one...? I am not a global warming activist. But this... is just common sense. Stop breaking the ice, and the polar regions will not melt as fast. The science is simple. One cubic foot of mass has 6 square feet of surface. Split that cube in half and you add an additional 2 square feet of surface. In terms of ice. That means there is one third more surface exposed to the ambient temperature than there was before it was split. It will melt faster. Stop breaking the ice...!!!
Good Documentary thanks..
This is the way the ice booked 40 years ago the ice and doesn't even look like this anymore it's all filthy dirty it melts fast is turn the ocean into a wash machine oanda 10% Ocean map I've been hearing that for 50 years does steel saying it today after the fleet of trident's in the eighties I doubt if there's any ocean left
That's why we got airplanes maybe these guys breaking all the ice up started the Melt they don't probably have to worry about that anymore but sure want to Pat themselves on the back of the act like it has to be done. They were hiding monsters and fighting monsters and it pretty much looks like they're losing
If the bridge ever will collapses, it’s the woman’s fault, they replaced man who just build and managed the bridge and 2 woman now managed this construction, who have no part in this construction not even had given any architectural input to build this monumental bridge.
Excellent observation. A quality and well constructed comment. I hope you work hard and get your GED.
Наш «50 лет...» топчик просто!
Looks like they could heat the bow
I wonder if the steel used at front and back is a higher quality to withstand the ice cutting, I know the saltwater ice is different than freshwater, I am of the understanding that arctic sea ice is softer and not as brittle as freshwater ice. just another engineering marvel .... and yes, I spend some 15 years in the High Arctic and have gone on the sea ice often for hunting...
Whose the crew behind this incredible documentary ?!!
Hmm. Bet thats 1 of the main reasons for arctic sea ice melting problems
Love it. Men on steel engine
Call 1800 Germany for all your engineering needs ! 👏🏼
Now who is watching this during school?
Nobody they would be on their cell phones instead of learning history
Why didn't they put a little more dramatic music on that? Would be so much better!
Canada is not paying attention to the Russian encroachment in the north They want the oil and gas reserves. As usual we will be late to the party!
Both the hull and the propulsion system is designed in Finland. What they did not tell is that the breaker has a system to blow air bubbles under the hull they act as ball bearings between the ice and hull
All of this in the name of commerce, i don't want anything from anyone
Ice bergs dead ahead sir! Hold your course, full speed ahead.
"We have to keep on shedule!" - I see many Überstunden
History timeline is important in this project. Fire in SF and rebuilding housing / business, required local manpower and tradesmen who had to travel AROUND the bay without vehicles, and no where to reside IN the city. Steel fabricated into movable components on the EAST coast of US. Shipped to West coast and stored. Used only recently completed Panama canal to do so. As bridge was being constructed, Henry Ford is paying $5 a day also, and automobiles are only beginning to become popular. Check out docs on gift from France project, cast, crated, shipped to USA, and assembled in NY harbor. Also a target risk by weather and terrorist attack. Lady Liberty.
Endless repetition, pointless dialog, massive over dramatization makes this video impossible to watch.
UFO at 18:58
Interesting, but very low volume.
Is this apart of a series?
and people wonder whats happening to the icecaps
That nuclear icebreaker wasn't the Yamal, it was the 50 Years of Victory. Yamal is red and has shark jaws painted in the bow.
Mackinac Bridge: Hold my beer...
So how do they retrieve the coins?
Excellent documentary - thank you.
Hello. Do not think so today
good vid. too bad cali is not like it use to be.
It really is sad, they don't even prioritize maintaining landmarks like the Golden gate anymore but they are more than happy to "redirect the 10 million dollars it makes a years to more important projects" aka there pockets.
Everyone of these videos has to be hella over dramatic about everything "even one mishap derails the entire project" "the plans allow no room for error" blah blah blah....
You wouldn't want any error in the middle of the ocean in a bigass storm
I like it so fuk off.
11:31 :P
29:34. Riddle me this, How can you circle the earth 3 times at the equator with 28,000 km of wire?
Dirk Digglerguy According to an older documentary I watched, they said it was 80,000 miles of wire, which sounds more reasonable.
I watched another doc on the construction, recently, that showed main (Arch) wires being run. Six strands at a time, combined to form a 1 meter Cable. Which was then wrapped by machine by wire. That's a bit of steel wire. Strength and flexibility concepts used in Radial tires.
I think he meant 38,000 km. that is enough to circle it three times over. I watched the documentary on TV before with close captioning, and that said 38,000 km.
